Atlantic Ocean

The French Basque Coast boasts no less than 40km of coastline, shaped by winter storms and the spectacular force of the waves that attract experienced surfers in search of thrills and spectators fascinated by their exploits. The Basque coastline abounds in an astonishing diversity of landscapes. The fine sand and majestic waves of the beaches at Anglet, Bidart and Hendaye contrast with the tranquillity of the bay at Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, protected by its dykes and fort respectively.

The coastal path

Covering 54 kilometres from Bidart to San Sébastián in Spain, this legendary walk can be completed in 4 days by anyone on their own. Ideal out of season to take advantage of more pleasant weather, it is used all year round by walkers of all abilities. This walking route offers a variety of landscapes and a different way of discovering the beauty of the natural riches of the Basque Coast. Passing through Biarritz, Ghétary and Saint-Jean-de-Luz as far as Hendaye, the coastal path offers breathtaking views of the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean almost all the way along this route along the Basque coastline.
